Governors

At Millbrook Park our governors are, are called Local Area Committee (LAC) members.

The LAC consists of 9 appointed members and can have up to two additional co-opted members, that have been selected by the LAC to fill a particular need or skills gap.

LAC members are appointed by the LDBS Academies Trust (LAT), who also confirm the LAC's Chair and Vice-Chair after they have been voted into their positions by the LAC.  The Headteacher is always a member of the LAC by virtue of their role. The Headteacher will attend all meetings. Two members of the LAC will be elected by the parents and one member will be elected by the staff of the school. As we are a Church of England school, one place is allocated to the Vicar of St Paul's Mill Hill and, because the school also falls within the parish of St Mary's Hendon, one place is also allocated to a parish committee member from Hendon.

LAC members are checked for suitability by the LAC, to ensure that each appointed member is able to bring complementary skills to the table, ensuring that LAC has the right range of skills to fulfil its duties and lead the school forward.  Once they have been appointed they are then confirmed by the Board of Directors of the Trust. In special circumstances, e.g. to cover an urgently needed skills set the school can co-opt up to two LAC members for one year each.
